Lake Como, by wooden boat.
Villas and gardens running down to the water, and a varnished boat at the jetty.
Como is best seen from the water. The great villas stand along the shore with their gardens falling to the lake, and the only sensible way between them is by boat. We find the house or the suite, and the boat and driver to go with it.
- Bellagio
- The village on the point where the lake divides.
- Villa del Balbianello
- A terraced villa on a wooded headland.
- Villa Carlotta
- Botanical gardens on the western shore, at their height in spring.
- Varenna
- A quieter village on the eastern shore.
